MOBILE, Ala — The Senior Bowl has already had plenty of upheaval within its first two days with some injuries occurring and others sitting out of practice on the second day of work in Mobile. So, here are some of the notes of little things happening at practice to note.

Dawand Jones Sits

Standout Ohio State OT Dawand Jones, who had a fantastic first day of practice, sat out on Wednesday due to undisclosed reasons. It was reported that he was potentially dealing with an injury after the first day of practice on Tuesday, and he was absent from the media breakfast and practice altogether. As one of the standout players on the offensive line, Jones is a key player to watch. If he can return on Thursday, he is posted to put up yet another strong day of practice.

Roschon Johnson Exits

Texas RB Roschon Johnson is poised to be a day-two pick with his toughness and receiving chops. Those are traits he showcased on Tuesday as well, apparently doing so with a broken bone in his hand. Johnson was injured early on in practice and went through pass protection drills as well as one-on-one receiving drills with the injury. That showcases his toughness, but it is a blow to his stock.

In his place, Texas Tech RB Sarodorick Thompson got the call-up from the NFLPA Bowl. An explosive player, Thompson flashed today with some of his athleticism right out of the gate.

Malik Cunningham Returns

Louisville QB Malik Cunningham returned to practice on Wednesday after being absent from Tuesday’s session. He dealt with a stomach virus, but came back and looked like his usual self. Cunningham has an element of mobility that no one else here in Mobile has, and he flexed it when necessary on Wednesday. In fact, he looked far more composed than the others there, so Cunningham did himself plenty of favors today.

Puka Nacua Hurt

BYU WR Puka Nacua was steady and solid on day one, but it seems that he will not participate for the rest of the week. Nacua was absent from the media breakfast and suffered an injury during the first practice of the week. It seemed like Nacua was on the road to becoming a real winner this week, but he should test well, too. So, it seems likely that Nacua should see his stock rise throughout the process.

Tyrique Stevenson’s Scare

At one point on Wednesday, Miami cornerback Tyrique Stevenson exited the field with a trainer to get checked out in the locker room. That was concerning for a player who had soared up draft boards throughout the week, but regardless, Stevenson did return and played the rest of the way. All seems well with Stevenson and he is ready to continue his strong week in Mobile.
