Steelers Morning Rush: Setting straight the ridiculous reaction to the Steelers contract extension with Cam Heyward.
Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the contract extension signed by defensive captain Cam Heyward on Wednesday.
Heyward and the Steelers agreed to a two-year extension, or more accurately, a new three-year contract, on Tuesday, that will add no guaranteed money other than what he was already owed for 2024, and give the team multiple outs without penalty if Heyward doesn’t live up to the $14.5 million per season price tag on the extension.
Despite that, Pittsburgh fans seem to be freaking out about the deal. Alan tries to set things straight.

I’m not freaking out, I think he’s worth every penny and I’m glad they got it done. He needs to be a Steeler for life
