Star Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has requested a trade out of the organization after he felt the team was not meeting his worth, he said in a Twitter thread on Monday morning.

Jackson had the non-exclusive franchise tag placed on him earlier in the month, and general manager Eric DeCosta noted that he believed talks were both cordial and working towards an extension. In the thread, Jackson set the record straight and noted what was going on between himself and the organization.

“In regard to my future plans. As of March 2nd, I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the Super Bowl,” Jackson said. “You all are great but I had to make a business decision that was best for my family and me. No matter how far I go or where my career takes me, I’ll continue to be close to my fans of Baltimore Flock nation and the entire State of Maryland. You’ll see me again.”

Lamar Jackson, on the non-exclusive tag, is free to negotiate with every team and work out a deal. The Ravens would then be able to match any offer sheet that they could potentially have. However, if he signs the tag, he is free to be traded. It seems that is something that Jackson could pursue with this new announcement. The Colts reportedly are lurking in the background to potentially land him according to reports.

Jackson, the 2019 AP NFL MVP has dealt with injuries over the past two go-round and missed the team’s last six games of this past campaign with a knee injury — including a Wild Card round playoff defeat to AFC North rival Cincinnati. Jackson didn’t even travel to that game, either, which created another storyline in the contract saga.
