The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened as big underdogs to the Buffalo Bills for their Week 5 road game, according to odds posted late on Sunday by FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Steelers opened as 13-point underdogs on Sunday night. By Monday afternoon, they were already a full two-touchdown dog to the Bills, with the spread sitting at 14 points. The Steelers moneyline is +610 and the over/under total is 47.5

The Steelers have been underdogs in three of their four games this season, but never by more than one score. The Steelers snapped a streak of seven consecutive games as underdogs when they were favored to beat the New York Jets in Week 4, a game they lost outright.

The Steelers haven’t entered a game as two-touchdown underdogs at any point in Mike Tomlin’s tenure as head coach. The Steelers were 12-point underdogs to the Kansas City Chiefs in their 2021 playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium, which is the current high under Tomlin. Before that, the Steelers were 11-point underdogs against the New England Patriots on Dec. 9, 2007 in Tomlin’s first season as head coach.

This season, Pittsburgh is 1-2-1 against the spread, 1-1-1 as an underdog and 1-1 as a road underdog, winning outright at Cincinnati in Week 1 against the Bengals. The Steelers pushed the spread as three-point home underdogs in Week 2 against the New England Patriots and failed to cover 4.5 while losing to the Cleveland Browns by 12 points in Week 3.

The Bills are 2-1-1 against the spread this season and have been favored in all four of their games. The Bills pushed a three-point margin against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4 and lost outright as four-point predicted victors against the Miami Dolphins in Week 3. Buffalo covered spreads of 10 and two in Week 2 and 1 against the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams.

Three of Buffalo’s four games have gone under their total, and only one of the four had more than the 47.5-point total for this game. The Steelers have had two of their games go under the total and two go over, but aw no more than 46 points scored in any of the games.

The Steelers and Bills last met in Orchard Park, New York last September, when the Steelers beat Buffalo 23-16 as 6.5-point underdogs. Buffalo won the previous two games, in Buffalo in 2020 and in Pittsburgh in 2021.

Pittsburgh leads the all-time series between the teams, 17-11. The Steelers have won seven of the last nine meetings.
