Steelers All 91: DL Conor Sheehy

Published

on

All 91 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 91 members of the Steelers 2019 training camp roster.

61 • Conor Sheehy, first-year defensive end

Last year: Signed with the Green Bay Packers as a UDFA out of Wisconsin. Was cut after training camp and signed a futures contract with the Steelers in January.

Stats: Had five tackles over four games with the Packers last preseason.

Accolades, Highlights:

Two-time All-Big Ten, played in the 2018 East-West Shrine Game.

Camp outlook: Sheehy fits perfectly into the Steelers’ scheme as a run stuffing 3-4 defensive end or as a sub-package defensive tackle in the mold of Stephon Tuitt.

Projected role: There’s too many guys with experience (Tyson Alualu, Dan McCuller) or upside (sixth-round pick Isaiah Buggs) to see a spot on the 53 for Sheehy if everyone stays healthy. His versatility could be valuable on the practice squad.

The rest of the 91:
