Steelers All 91: S Marcus Allen

Published

on

All 91 is a Pittsburgh Steelers Now series profiling each of the 91 members of the Steelers 2019 training camp roster.

27 • Marcus Allen, second-year safety

Last year: A 2018 fifth-round pick, Allen played in two games after suffering a hamstring injury that kept him out of training camp.

Stats: Made two tackles in 2018.

Accolades, Highlights:

Camp outlook: There’s a crowded mess at safety behind starters Sean Davis and Terrell Edmunds.

Jordan Dangerfield, Kameron Kelly and rookie free agent P.J. Locke are battling for what’s likely going to be just two spots on the 53-man roster.

Projected role: Allen has been behind Kelly and Davis at free safety, and behind Cameron Sutton at the dime linebacker spot. It’ll probably take an increased special teams role — traditionally Dangerfield’s forte — to secure him a spot on the 53-man roster.
