CINCINNATI — Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Levi Wallace left the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the third quarter on Sunday with a right ankle injury and he is questionable to return.

Wallace was slow to get up after the Bengals covered a two-point conversion on a pass from Joe Burrow to Mike D. Thomas.

Wallace was helped off the field with a trainer and was taken to the medical tent on the Pittsburgh sideline for evaluation. He returned to the sideline and had his right ankle re-taped, but he did not immediately re-enter the game.

The Steelers used Wallace, Cam Sutton and Ahkello Witherspoon in a three-cornerback rotation in the first half, with Sutton working with Art Maulet as slot cornerbacks in the Nickel. James Pierre is the team’s only backup outside cornerback.

A free agent signing from the Buffalo Bills this offseason, Wallace had been playing in his first career game with the Steelers. He had three tackles before his injury.

Wallace replaced Joe Haden in the Steelers defense after the veteran starter was not retained when his contract expired.
