Steelers Cornerbacks Cam Sutton, James Pierre Leave Game

BUFFALO — The Steelers’ secondary is reeling as in the span of two minutes, they lost two of their contributors at cornerback to injuries. Cam Sutton came into the game with hamstring and groin injuries and James Pierre went down in the endzone with an injury on a Buffalo touchdown.

Sutton left the game with his helmet in hand and with trainers. He came into the game listed as questionable and tried to gut it out, but it appears there may have been a reaggravation for the Steelers cornerback at this stage in the game. He will not return.

His replacement, James Pierre went down with an injury on a Bills touchdown. He got up and immediately went into the Steelers’ locker room. That leaves the Steelers down to Josh Jackson, Levi Wallace, and Arthur Maulet at cornerback at this point with Ahkello Witherspoon already out with a hamstring injury.

Moving forward, the Steelers are going to have to rely upon short units at cornerback with so many injuries at this point in the secondary. They trail 31-3 near half time, and it does not appear to be getting better in an already banged-up secondary. Should Sutton and Pierre not be able to return, it will a tough 30 minutes for the Steelers.
