Steelers-Cowboys Delayed Due to Lightning
Potentially severe thunderstorms in the area could impact the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
PITTSBURGH โ The start of the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboysย has been delayed due to lightning in the area, NFL officials reported at Acrisure Stadium. Kickoff had been scheduled for 8:20 p.m., but a line of strong thunderstorms approaching Acrisure Stadium caused officials to delay the start of the game.
The National Weather Service is warning of the possibility of severe storms near the start of the game. A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the Pittsburgh area through 11 p.m. A line of strong storms is expected to come through right about kickoff. That line of stormsย has produced hail and potential tornadoes in northern Pennsylvania earlier on Sunday evening.
NFL games are generally not postponed or suspended for rain, but they can be delayed due to lightning in the area. During previous lightning delays at Acrisure Stadium, fans have been asked to exit the seating bowl and shelter in the indoor areas of the stadium while the storm passed.
So far on Sunday, the Steelers have allowed fans to remain in the seating bowl.
