Steelers Daily Links: Alex Highsmith Leads NFL, New Grass at Acrisure

Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Alex Highsmith leads the NFL in a major statistical category, Cam Heyward gives back to the community and the playing surface at Acrisure Stadium is getting redone.

 Through three weeks, Alex Highsmith leads the league in sacks with 4.5. The Steelers outside linebacker had just six in all of 2021.

 Mike Tomlin was at the Columbia-Georgetown game on Saturday to watch his son Mason play. Columbia defeated Georgetown, 42-7. “Great win for the Lions Saturday…Now Princeton Week!” Tomlin said on Instagram. He saw his older son Dino play at Boston College the week before the start of the season.

 Part 2 of Ben Roethlisberger’s conversation with Merril Hoge was released on Monday. Episode 5 of Footbahlin’ with Ben Roethlisberger will touch on Hoge’s path to the NFL and his career on the field. He also shares some of his favorite stories and why he says legendary Steelers coach Chuck Noll was “the greatest man he ever met.”

 Greg Gumbel, Adam Archuleta and A.J. Ross will call the Steelers-Jets game on Sunday for CBS.

 With the Cowboys’ 23-16 win over the Giants on Monday night, Cooper Rush joined Devlin “Duck” Hodges and Taysom Hill as the last three undrafted free agent quarterbacks to win their first three career starts.

 The grass field at Acrisure Stadium got re-sodded on Monday. Pitt hosts Georgia Tech at 8 p.m. on Saturday and the Steelers-Jets game will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, so the gridiron at Acrisure will need to be in top shape.

 Cam Heyward and The Heyward House have launched ‘Cam’s Kindness Week,’ a time for him to spend the week in the Pittsburgh community and give back to those who are in need.

 Terry Bradshaw‘s Oklahoma ranch is for sale for the low, low price of $22.5 million.
