Steelers Daily Links: Dan Moore Steps Up, More Wildcat Coming?

With the Pittsburgh Steelers having picked it up on offense in last week’s win over New Orleans, offensive coordinator Matt Canada is planning on using Najee Harris in the Wildcat set more, and Dan Moore had the best performance of his career last week.

🏈 Through Week 11, third-year defensive lineman Alex Highsmith ranks within the NFL’s top five in sacks. He’s notched 8.5 sacks thus far, which is tied for fourth with Baltimore’s Justin Houston and is only three behind league leader Matthew Judon of New England (11.5).

🏈 Even though William Jackson III is on the injured reserve at the moment, former Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam “Pacman” Jones had some choice words for the Steelers corner and his former rivals on Twitter. The beef between Jones and Jackson began when they were teammates with Cincy.

🏈 For as much heat as Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson has gotten for not being the most reliable pass-catcher, it’s an interesting statistic that he has the third-lowest drop rate in the NFL since 2021, per Pro Football Reference. He’s only dropped eight passes in his 250 targets since that span — a 3.2% mark.

🏈 Seeing that the ground game showed some signs of life last Sunday, Najee Harris said the Steelers will be running a lot more Wildcat in the weeks ahead. “I think it opens up a lot, gives me more looks,” Harris said. “So we are going to expand it more and see what else we can do with it.”

🏈 Against the Saints, Steelers offensive tackle Dan Moore Jr. had his best career day in terms of Pro Football Focus grades. His overall grade was an 89.6 — and his previous best was a 73.8. His run blocking grade was a 91.3.

🏈 Former Steelers wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster was ruled out for the Kansas City Chiefs’ game on Sunday night. He took a hard shot and suffered a concussion last week against Jacksonville.

🏈 Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase was ruled out Friday for Sunday’s game against the Steelers. Chase has already missed the last two weeks with a hip injury and didn’t practice at all this week. Mike Thomas and Trent Taylor have both made a start in his absence.
