The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted a youth football jamboree for girls and a musical tribute to Franco Harris tool place over the weekend.

🏈 Steelers.com: The team hosted its fourth Girls Flag Football Jamboree at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex over the weekend, with over 100 areas girls in grades 7-12 participating.

The Steelers created a girls flag football league for the first time last spring, with six schools participating. This year, 24 schools are expected to play and the team is pushing for schools to recognize the sport.

“You kind of dip your toes in the water a little bit and this is a chance to really dive in,” Steelers marketing manager Mike Marchinsky said. “The looks on their faces are of excitement and surprise because I think that they see an opportunity, how fun it is, and they see how good they are and can be.”

Last season, Shaler won the end-of-season tournament, which was played at Heinz Field.

🏈 KDKA: A musical tribute to late Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris was held on Saturday night in the Hill District.

“All That Jazz” in the Hill District honored the Steelers legend with a musical memorial performed by Roger Humphries, Jessica Lee and Mark Strickland.

🏈 Baltimore Sun: Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy thinks that new Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken will find better ways to use quarterback Lamar Jackson — that is, if the Ravens are able to sign him.

🎂 Happy 48th birthday to former Steelers running back and current Carolina Panthers assistant head coach and running backs coach Duce Staley. Staley played three seasons with the Steelers from 2004-06, winning Super Bowl XL with the team, though he did not play in the game due to injury.
