CINCINNATI — Breaking down the headlines coming out of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ incredible season-opening win over the Cincinnati Bengals from Paycor Stadium on Sunday, including a pile of potentially significant injuries and Mitch Trubisky’s chance of remaining starter despite a mediocre first outing.

🏈 Steelers Mitch Trubisky was unhappy with his performance, saying “I can do better” after the game on Sunday, but don’t expect the Steelers to make a chance at quarterback, as Mike Tomlin plans on giving Trubisky a “long leash.”

🏈 Steelers Steelers Takeaways (+): The Steelers offense had a lousy day, but was able to get it done with last-gasp effort in the clutch.

🏈 Steelers Steelers Injury Updates: T.J. Watt is being evaluated for a potentially torn pec, which should not be season-ending, though it could be significant. Najee Harris is being evaluated for a foot injury that is not believed to be serious. Levi Wallace has an ankle injury that is also not expected to be a long-term absence. Robert Spillane left the game with an eye injury in his status is unknown. Mason Cole was able to return to play after an ankle injury. Cam Heyward and DeMarvin Leal did not return to the game after their undisclosed injuries, but are expected to be fine.

🏈 Steelers The Bengals had their own issues, including their long snapper and wide receiver Tee Higgins, who left with a concussion.

🏈 Steelers Minkah Fitzpatrick was the unquestioned hero on Sunday, with a pick six to start the game, a blocked extra point to extend it and a team-high 14 tackles.

🏈 Steelers Guard Kendrick Green was among the five Steelers that did not dress for Sunday’s game.

🏈 Steelers Steelers Scout Report: Top quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young were on the docket as the Steelers scouted Alabama and Ohio State on Saturday.

🏈 Steelers Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gifted the team black on black Air Force 1s for their Cincinnati trip — and they sure looked like a team with nothing to lose.

STEELERS SCHEDULE

🏈 Steelers The Steelers will report to UPMC Rooney Sports Complex for day of off-the-field work and treatment. The locker room will open to the media at 1:15 p.m. — TBD
