Steelers Daily Links: Rihanna at Super Bowl; NFLPA Investigates Dolphins on Tua

Rihanna will headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show and the NFLPA is investigating the Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovialoa for a possible violation of concussion protocol rules.

🏈 Steelers According to Jay Glazer, due to Tom Brady breaking two tablets in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, all 32 teams received a memo from the NFL this week threatening punishment for breaking tablets and/or other league-issued equipment. Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey must have not got the memo, as he had a meltdown and slammed his headset and tablet after Buffalo’s 21-19 loss to the Dolphins.

🏈 Steelers According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the NFLPA is initiating an investigation into the handling of Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion check during their game against the Bills on Sunday in Miami. Tagovailoa took a big hit from Bills linebacker Matt Milano in the second quarter and appeared to be concussed, but the Dolphins are claiming that his back locked up, which led to him wobbling.

🏈 Steelers Rihanna will headline the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, the NFL announced Sunday, after speculation that it could be Taylor Swift.

🏈 Steelers Per overthecap.com, the Steelers currently have $8,465,120 in cap space, which is the eighth most in the league. The Browns have the most cap room with $35,937,224.

🏈 Steelers Steelers legend “Mean” Joe Greene celebrated his 76th birthday on Saturday. Former Steelers running back Walter Abercrombie turns 63 today.

🏈 Steelers During the 49ers-Broncos game on Sunday night, Hall of Famer Troy Polamalu was mentioned a few times by color commentator Cris Collinsworth, as Polamalu trained 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga leading up to the 2021 NFL Draft. Hufanga was also making Polamalu-like plays. Charles Woodson tweeted during the game, “Does Polamalu play for the 9ers?” Richard Sherman responded, “He’s doing his best impression isn’t he!” David Lombardi of The Athletic tweeted, “Talanoa Hufanga has made at least one seismic play (usually more) every week thanks to his film study and anticipation. He’s consistently credited his work with Troy Polamalu for that.”

🏈 Steelers The Broncos defeated the 49ers, 11-10, on Sunday night, which marked only the second game in NFL history with a final score of 11-10. The one other instance was the Steelers over the Chargers in Week 11, 2008. Troy Polamalu had a diving one-handed interception in that game. Polamalu also batted down a lateral and returned it for a touchdown on the final play of the game, but there was a replay mistake and the score was negated. So, the final score would have been 17-10, pending a walk-off extra-point which was mandatory in the era.
