Steelers Daily Links: Tomlin Strong after Bye; NFL Ratings Best Since ’15

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been strong coming out of their bye week

🏈 The Steelers are 11-4 following a bye week under Mike Tomlin. This year, they’re getting the New Orleans Saints on a short week after they played on Monday Night Football.

🏈 Adam Amin, Mark Schlereth and Kristina Pink will call the Steelers-Saints game on Sunday for FOX.

🏈 Najee Harris has just 12 runs of 10+ yards this season on 132 carries, while Jaylen Warren has recorded 13 runs of 10+ yards on only 41 carries.

🏈 The Steelers gave back to the community on Tuesday. James Daniels kicked off his reading program at Duquesne, while rookies headed to Sheridan Avenue Orchard and Garden to enhance the area by making it accessible for residents to get around and take advantage of the free produce grown from the garden.

🏈 Steelers director of community relations Blayre Holmes Davis will become the Second Lady of Pennsylvania, with her husband Austin Davis projected to win the Lt. Governor’s race.

🏈 Through nine weeks, the Steelers have the worst point differential in the league at -77 (120-197). The next closest team is the Indianapolis Colts at -51 (132-183).

🏈 According to BetMGM, the Steelers currently have +100000 odds to win the Super Bowl, which is tied for the lowest odds in the league along with the Houston Texans. Pittsburgh opened the season with +4000 odds.

🏈 NFL on CBS is averaging 17.763 million viewers this season, which is the best viewership for the first half of an NFL season since 2015.

🏈 JuJu Smith-Schuster discussed the differences of playing for Mike Tomlin and Andy Reid on Westwood One: “I was in a system for five years with a defensive head coach. Defensive minded. It’s a big difference and big change here. Having Andy Reid actually help us study the plays and go through it is really, really nice,” Smith-Schuster said.

🏈 The NFL’s pace of play is averaging 3:01:55 per game through Week 9, its lowest since 1993, when it was 3:00:01.

🏈 Prior to Monday night’s game, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson surprised a young fan from Mississippi who has a heart condition. The reaction to seeing his favorite player was a heartwarming sight.

🏈 The Steelers will practice at 12:15 p.m. — Alan Saunders, Ed Thompson
