🏈 Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher believes the Steelers need to leave emotions out of their decisions going forward.
“I think it starts more so than a quarterback position. I think it’s got to start with a defensive staff and philosophically speaking. Where do we go from here? Then you start to assemble the people around you that can get that can plant into those pieces into that puzzle,” Cowher said on the Rich Eisen Show. “So again, I think they got a chance to get away. I think the worst thing you could do is make rash decisions and not be hasty in doing that. Remove the emotion. And I think that that’s what happened last week. there’ll be a lot of those conversations you’re going to have. You’ll have to have a vision that’s aligned and have to make whatever change they’ve deemed needs to be made to get a different result.”
🏈 Bill Cowher also said there is going to have to be tough conversations for Mike Tomlin after the five straight losses to end the season.
“There is going to be tough conversations that need to be had and I know that Art Rooney will be apart of that. Omar Khan will be apart of that. They’ll sit down and look at what their options are and have a plan moving forward,” Cowher said.
“No one is more frustrated or disappointed in how the season ended than Mike Tomlin. I was in there earlier this year and did a sit down with Russell Wilson. They’ve made some tweaks… They tried to make some changes on the staff and maybe more and maybe there’ll be more, but I know that man there that winning championships is what he is all about. He’s not going to run away from anything and he’s not gonna be pushed out of anything. He’ll have move of a resolve than he’s ever had before… That’s just how he’s wired.”

🏈 Ohio State standout wide receiver Emeka Egbuka declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. Egbuka could be a target for the Steelers in the first round.
🏈 Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward recorded eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback hits and 11 passes defended in 2024.
🏈 Stephen A. Smith believes Russell Wilson will be back in Pittsburgh in 2025.
“I think so because what direction are you going to go in? I don’t think they’re ready to go with Justin Fields and give him the nod even though he won games. I don’t think they were as pleased with him as they were with Russell,” Smith said on ESPN’s First Take. “I also think that Russell gets a reprieve to some degree because you recognize what a problem George Pickens was. Not to mention the fact that who’s your legitimate number two if you’re the Pittsburgh Steelers as well.”
🏈 Former NFL quarterback and league MVP Cam Newton thinks the Steelers should run it back with Justin Fields.
“Russell Wilson is saying and doing everything that he’s supposed to say. Of course he wants to stay, of course he’s going to prop up and say there’s no other place like Pittsburgh,” Newton said on First Take. “Hey, bro, you got to understand like this, Mike T. You got to understand like this Pittsburgh. Two of the four game changers in this league are in this division Ravens, Lamar Jackson, Bengals, Joe Burrow. How do we compete with those guys? If anything, I’m saying give it to Justin Fields. Build with Justin Fields. He’s a young player that you can build with.”
