🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth is in Ireland to help promote the Steelers game that will take place in the Emerald Isle later this year. Freiermuth was at Ireland’s rugby’s team’ game against France at Croke Park.
🏈 NFL insider Josina Anderson reports that the New York Jets interest in Justin Fields has been discussed within last two weeks.
🏈 NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the Jets are high on Justin Fields.
“They love his athleticism, leadership traits, ability to move the pocket and maybe most importantly, believe his best football is ahead of him,” Schultz wrote.
🏈 Former Steelers beat writer Ed Boucette slams the Steelers for their quarterback issues since Ben Roethlisberger retired.
“Steelers could have seven starting quarterbacks in three seasons. They sound like the Cleveland Browns through the years. Very dysfunctional, very dysfunctional,” Bouchette said on 93.7 The Fan.
🏈 J.J. Watt believes the Steelers should have got a deal done with T.J. Watt last year.
“The earlier you get the deal done, the better deal you get. That’s just a fact,” Watt said on the Pat McAfee Show. “That’s why, my personal belief, they should have done it last year because I think there was a hometown discount to be had last year. But now the longer you wait this year, you’ve got Micah Parsons coming up. Like you said, you got Aidan Hutchinson, you got Myles Garrett. These guys are getting new deals. That number’s gonna inch closer to four in front of than threes. So you’re gonna want to get that done earlier rather than later because the price isn’t going down.”
🏈 Mina Kimes of ESPN weighed in on the idea of the Steelers running it back with Justin Fields.
“I don’t hate the idea of running it back with Fields, who I thought played fine for them last year. He did some things that I thought you can really build on. Took fewer sacks and had the lowest sack rate of his career was generally better at playing on time within structure,” Kimes said on NFL Live. “But I will say, if they do bring him back, I’d actually like to see him unleashed a little bit more. I was sometimes frustrated watching. I felt like he didn’t take enough chances downfield or wasn’t quite the explosive playmaker we saw in Chicago. So if they brought him back, maybe without Russell Wilson looking over his shoulder, he could be a little bit more free and play more free. I think you’d get more higher upside out of him in Pittsburgh this season.”
🏈 Happy Birthday to Steelers legend Hines Ward, born on March 8, 1976 in Seoul, South Korea.
