🏈 Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth revealed on Chrisitan Kuntz’s podcast that he was nearly drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers.

“I was gonna go to the Chargers at (47th overall) if Asante Samuel Jr. wasn’t on the board,” Freiermuth said. “But he was, and they drafted him.” Freiermuth was selected by the Steelers at 55th overall.

🏈 NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger raved about Nick Herbig’s performance against the Detroit Lions in a film breakdown. “Nick Herbig is ready to impact in year 2. If you need linebackers go to Wisconsin,” Baldinger wrote on X.

🏈 Mike Tomlin said after Saturday’s game that Nick Herbig is finding his footing as a second-year player.

“He’s just taking a jump and he’s been there before,” Tomlin said. “He’s finding his footing man. He wants to be impactful, and obviously, we are going to find a role for a guy like that, whether he’s quote-on-quote a starter or not. He has an opportunity to be significant and he has shown that not only in stadium but in the team development.”

🏈 Former NFL head coach Herm Edwards thinks the Steelers should use both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

“I would find a way to use both of them. I actually would. I mean, in certain downs, certain situations, all of a sudden you bring in Justin Fields, that is a problem for the defense,” Edwards said on Sportscenter. “Now, every week you are talking about a defensive coordinator having to get ready for both quarterbacks.”

🏈 Former Steelers nose tackle Chris Hoke thinks Dan Moore  Jr. is not getting the respect he deserves.

“Dan Moore Jr., everyone wants to discount him, ‘Oh we’ve got these two tackles, pedigree, all this stuff,’. You haven’t heard one thing about Dan Moore Jr. this offseason. He does the job; I don’t think he’s given up a sack,” Hoke said. “Why are we always discounting this guy being a player? This guy’s done nothing but gotten better. Yeah, he made mistakes as a rookie. Yeah, he did things.

“Look at Broderick Jones. This guy [Moore] I think is a starting left tackle in the NFL. A first-round draft pick [Jones] came in, never beat him out, had to go to the right side to play. Let’s give this guy some kudos because I think Dan Moore Jr. every single time has risen to the top and showed that he’s an NFL starting left tackle.”
