🏈 The late Myron Cope would have been 96 today. Cope was a sports journalist, radio personality and sportscaster, but he’s best known for being the voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers for 35 years. He’s also the creator of the Terrible Towel.
🏈 Steelers wide receiver George Pickens posted a highlight reel of his 2024 season on Instagram. He captioned the post, “Ŷêâř lll ✔️. Vru 🥷🥷#Glorytogod #14thatboynvrforgetFN.”
🏈 Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger questioned Russell Wilson’s audibles at the line during the Wild Card loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
🏈 FanDuel ranked Ben Roethlisberger’s rookie season in 2004 as the sixth-best rookie season in NFL history. Jayden Daniels rookie season this year was ranked at No. 1. Russell Wilson’s 2012 rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks was ranked second-best.
🏈 Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson reflected on his seventh NFL season.
“Year7. Thankful for the Journey!” Jackson wrote on Instagram.
🏈 The AFC North is set to start a sixth straight season with the same four head coaches (Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Zac Taylor and Kevin Stefanski). Per Sportradar, no other division had gone more than four straight seasons without a coaching change (NFC Central 1978-81, NFC West 2019-22).
🏈 On this day 20 years ago, the Steelers lost to the New England Patriots, 41-27, in the AFC Championship Game at Heinz Field. It marked the second time in four years that Pittsburgh lost to New England at home in an AFC Championship Game.
