? Steelers linebacker Payton Wilson was inducted into the NC State State Ring of Honor at halftime of NC State’s game against Stanford on Saturday.
Wilson was a five-year player at NC State, and he had his best statistical season in 2023, when he recorded 138 total tackles, six sacks, three interceptions, six passes defended, a forced fumble and one defensive touchdown. He won the Chuck Bednarik Award as the top defender in the country and the Butkus Award as the nation’s best linebacker.
Wilson is the 13th player to join the Wolfpack Ring of Honor. He joins the likes of Bill Cowher, Russell Wilson, Philip Rivers, Roman Gabriel, Torry Holt and Bradley Chubb.
“It’s really cool, because the first three names up there right now are Bill Cowher, Russell Wilson and mine,” Wilson said, via The Fayetteville Observer. “We all played or coached for the Steelers. … To be even in the conversation of those names, it’s super cool.”

? Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman thinks the Steelers are a sleeper team.
“Yeah, Pittsburgh’s sneaky, man. Hey, you got to tip your cap to Tomlin to have the balls to do what he’s done. It looks like it’s working out because Russ, that team right now reminds me and gives me like, I’m not saying they are, but it’s like those Legion of Boom Super Bowl teams,” Edelman said on Pardon My Take. “Russ Wilson throws a teardrop here, deep ball there. He’s got an explosive receiver to get a good run game, and play really good defense and special teams.”
? The Steelers are tied for second-best in turnover differential this season at +10 with 15 takeaways and five giveaways.
? The Steelers quarterbacks have thrown just one interception in eight games.
? Pat Freiermuth was back in Happy Valley for the Penn State-Ohio State game on Saturday.
? Saturday marked the 10-year anniversary of when the Steelers retired Joe Greene’s number. Only Ernie Stautner (No. 70), Joe Greene (No. 75) and Franco Harris (No. 32) have had their numbers retired in franchise history.
