🏈 Steelers Injury Updates: Cam Heyward had an injury scare, but seems fine after leaving practice on Thursday with a left ankle injury.

🏈 Mike Tomlin said that Mitch Trubisky will start, but Kenny Pickett will take second-team reps during the Steelers second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Saturday.

🏈 Kendrick Green will get the first chance to play left guard in Jacksonville, with Mike Tomlin citing Kevin Dotson’s recent injury as a reason to give Green the edge.

Mike Tomlin gave back to the community by hosting a group of kids from the Jasmine Nyree Campus at Wednesday’s practice. The kids were doing ladder drills with Najee Harris at practice as Tomlin observed and gave encouragement.

George Pickens has been rising up in the Offensive Rookie of the Year odds, and he’s now BetMGM’s betting favorite to win the award at +850. Pickens was +5000 to win OROY on Aug. 1.

According to Next Gen Stats, Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James and Terrell Edmunds were the only two defensive players from the 2021 season to play 400+ snaps at safety, 200+ snaps at linebacker and 150+ snaps at slot cornerback.

Hall of Famer Mel Blount was at the Steelers’ last training camp practice on Thursday. Tomlin wrote on Instagram, “It was special to have the legendary Mel Blount at camp today. This guy is one of the best you will ever meet.”
