Steelers DB Blasts Potential Wide Receiver Acquisition

Pittsburgh Steelers strong safety DeShon Elliott has not been shy about expressing his opinions about the team’s potential additions this offseason, and another player has now found himself in Elliott’s social media crosshairs.
Elliott replied to an Instagram post on Thursday about the Steelers potentially trading for or otherwise acquiring New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard. It’s safe to say, Elliott isn’t a fan.
“He so ass lol,” Elliott commented.
The reason the Steelers have been connected to Lazard has been twofold: the Steelers have a sudden need at wide receiver after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday. Lazard also has deep ties to Steelers quarterback target Aaron Rodgers.

Lazard and Rodgers played together for six seasons in Green Bay from 2018-22, and he followed Rodgers to the New York Jets in 2023, where they spent the last two seasons.
Of course, Elliott isn’t the biggest fan of Rodgers, either. One of his last social media adventures involved blasting the four-time MVP as the Steelers were beginning their pursuit.
Commenting on an Instagram post in March that speculated that Rodgers could land in Pittsburgh, Elliott wrote, “Leave his ass at the retirement home.”
A couple of weeks later, Elliott and Rodgers apparently made up, as they were photographed together by Proactive Sports Performance, who captioned it, “who retires first?”
Elliott, 28, is entering the final season of his two-year contract with the Steelers. He was a standout performer in 2024, joining the defense and fitting right in with his penchant for big hits and splash plays from the strong safety position.
He also, like many defensive backs over the years, can do a little bit of talking — apparently, on and off the field.
