Steelers Designate C/G J.C. Hassenauer to Return from IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers have designated center/guard J.C. Hassenauer to return from the injured reserve list, the team announced on Wednesday.

Hassenauer suffered a pectoral injury in the Steelers loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Nov. 21. He was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 28.

Hassenauer returned to practice on Wednesday. He has 21 days during which he can participate in practice before the Steelers must make a decision about whether or not to activate him from injured reserve. If they do not activate him at the end of the 21 days, he must remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

He cannot return to the active roster before this Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans, as players must miss three games while on the injured reserve list.

The Steelers were playing Hassenauer because of a previous injury to starting left guard Kevin Dotson. They have since also lost guard/tackle Joe Haeg (COVID-19) and center/guard B.J. Finney (back) for periods of time. Haeg also returned to practice Wednesday, while Finney was placed on injured reserve.
