Steelers Elevate DT Carlos Davis From Practice Squad

The Steelers will elevate kicker Nick Sciba and defensive tackle Carlos Davis from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced on Saturday.

The team signed Sciba on Saturday after Chris Boswell was downgraded to out after suffering a groin injury during the week. Sciba will now be the team’s kicker on Sunday in his first NFL career opportunity.

Davis will be elevated from the practice squad for the first time this season. The former seventh round draft pick of the Steelers will replace Larry Ogunjobi, who is out with injury. Pittsburgh will have a battered defensive line with Ogunjobi, T.J. Watt, and DeMarvin Leal all out.

In order to make room, the Steelers released wide receiver Josh Malone from the practice squad. That brings the Steelers to their fully allotted 16 spaces on the practice squad for the week.

Pittsburgh could not elevate an additional cornerback with Josh Jackson and Levi Wallace both out and will play with four cornerbacks on Sunday as a result.
