Locked On: Is Steelers First-Round Pick at Senior Bowl This Year?

MOBILE, Ala. — In each of the last two seasons, the Pittsburgh Steelers made their first selection in the NFL Draft after having previously scouted that player at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, with Crimson Tide running back Najee Harris going to the Black and Gold in 2021 and Kenny Pickett staying home with the Steelers after a Senior Bowl trip in 2022.

But with the Steelers drafting higher up the board than they have in quite some time, and an underclassman-heavy first round of this year’s crop means that streak might be about to end, with scant few of the team’s options for the No. 17 pick taking the field at the University of South Alabama.

But with three picks in the top 50 this year, the Steelers have a lot of scouting work to do and it will be far from a wasted trip, even if the top pick doesn’t come from the group in Mobile this year.

Alan Saunders joined Chris Carter of Locked On Steelers to talk about the Senior Bowl, the Steelers draft plans and more.
