The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the smallest collections of picks in the 2025 NFL Draft that the team has had in recent memory.

The Steelers have just six picks, having traded away their second-round selection for DK Metcalf, and picking at No. 21, the team is near the end of each of the six rounds they do have a selection for.

The Steelers do no have any compensatory picks, so they have just their natural picks, plus a couple trades which have moved pieces around but still left Omar Khan with a choice in rounds one, three, four, five, six and seven.

How bad is it? The Steelers are third-to-last in total draft value for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to research by Sharp Football. That’s the second-worst standing since Sharp started tracking the metric in 1999. The only time the Steelers were worse off was when they traded their first-round pick for Minkah Fitzpatrick in 2020.

The Steelers could look to gain additional picks, either by trading a player at the draft, or by trading from their surplus that is coming in 2026, when the Steelers are expected to land four high compensatory picks.

The lack of overall capital will also make it hard for the Steelers to trade up. Pittsburgh has had a five-player class just once, when they traded up to get Troy Polamalu in 2003.

If they lose a pick in a trade-up without being able to recoup it, they would tie that mark this year.
