Steelers inside linebacker Devin Bush has been the named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Steelers’ Week 6 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Bush recovered an incomplete Philip Rivers lateral and returned it for a touchdown and also grabbed a ball tipped by Tyson Alualu for an interception in the first quarter, helping propel the Steelers to an early 14-0 lead.

“It felt good just to put a team behind and make them play from behind because that is when they kind of get predictable,” Bush said on Sunday. “That is when defenses can smother an offense.

The first-round rookie from Michigan also led the Steelers with seven tackles, despite missing a portion of the game with an ankle injury.

With back-to-back injuries to Vince Williams and Mark Barron, Bush has been thrown into the fire early as a NFL rookie, but he’s responded nicely.
