UNITY TWP., Pa — Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool left Friday’s training camp practice with a shoulder injury at St. Vincent’s College.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin noted the injury and acknowledged that Claypool did not finish practice, but that they did not expect the injury to be overly serious.

“Chase Claypool wasn’t able to finish, he has a shoulder injury,” Tomlin said. “It’s being evaluated. I don’t know the severity of it. I’ll let you know when I do. That’s a component of this thing.”

With Claypool out, Anthony Miller, Cody White, George Pickens, and Calvin Austin got even more reps. Diontae Johnson is holding-in, and thus did not participate in any team drills.

Levi Wallace was characterized as under the weather and did not participate in practice. Tomlin says that Wallace will be day-to-day for the foreseeable future until he feels better.

In Wallace’s place, Cam Sutton and Ahkello Witherspoon started on the outside with Arthur Maulet manning the slot for the majority of practice.

Pat Freiermuth’s ‘lower-body tightness’ is officially a hamstring injury. The standout tight end did not participate in any facet of Friday’s practice. Tomlin characterized him as day-to-day.

Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi continues to work his way back from offseason foot surgery. While he did not participate in any team periods, Ogunjobi was a full participant in all individual team drills.

Star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is getting closer to a return. For the first time, he was catching a football. Previously, Fitzpatrick was only catching tennis balls. His left wrist is the specific injury after he fell off a bike while on vacation.

Tyson Alualu is still not working as he nurses left knee swelling. He is coming off a major injury and is currently on the PUP list. It does not seem he is as close as Fitzpatrick was.

Safety Miles Killebrew missed his second straight day of practice with a pec injury that he suffered in the first practice of training camp.
