Steelers Injury Updates: Diontae Johnson, Terrell Edmunds Banged Up

Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson, Terrell Edmunds, and Derek Watt are a few of the players that are among the new injuries heading into their game against the Las Vegas Raiders, Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday. The new injuries are not expected to be serious and in the latter part of the week, they all should participate.

According to Tomlin, Edmunds suffered a hamstring injury that could limit him during the early portions of the week. Still, he is expected to practice during the week and play against the Raiders. Tomlin even mentioned Edmunds as being key to slowing down Josh Jacobs and other key players.

Diontae Johnson suffered a turf toe injury. While that can sometimes present issues for receivers, it seems that Johnson’s is relatively minor and he will play. With the Raiders’ porous pass defense, having Johnson out there is a must for the Steelers.

Watt suffered an ankle injury. Just like the other two, he could be limited early in the week, but it is not expected to hold him out much longer than that. Kenny Pickett seems to have cleared concussion protocol and is in line to start for the Steelers on Saturday.

Myles Jack, who missed Sunday’s game against the Panthers with a groin injury, will be limited in the early parts of the week. Tomlin did not give an indication of if he is likely to play against the Raiders or not. Pat Freiermuth, who dealt with a foot injury and appeared limited, will play against the Raiders. He is the anticipated starter but could be limited early in the week.
