PITTSBURGH — Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has hopes that the extended time off after playing on Thursday Night Football in Week 14 will get his team back some players that have been missing.

Speaking at his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Tomlin said that as many as eight players could return when the Steelers face the Tennessee Titans this Sunday.

Outside linebackers T.J. Watt (groin) and Alex Highsmith (quad bruise), cornerback Joe Haden (left mid-foot sprain), linebacker Robert Spillane (knee sprain), nose tackles Carlos Davis (knee) and Isaiah Buggs (ankle), center/guard J.C. Hassenauer (pectoral) and guard/tackle Joe Haeg (COVID-19) are all expected to attempt to practice.

As always, Tomlin said that those players’ level and quality of practice participation will determine whether they’ll be able to suit up this Sunday.

He also said that he does not expect a return from defensive end Stephon Tuitt at this time.
