Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Chris Bowsell has been downgraded to doubtful for Monday’s matchup with Washington, as he continues to battle a hip injury, the team announced Sunday.
Bowsell was a full participant in practice on Friday, but did not practice Saturday and was originally listed as questionable.
If Boswell is unable to go, Pittsburgh will turn to practice squad kicker Matthew Wright, who was just signed on Nov. 30. He also spent training camp with the Steelers in 2019.
Wright has never kicked in an NFL game, but went 12 of 14 on field goals his senior year at UCF in 2018.
The Steelers will be without a significant weapon in Boswell, who has been one of the league’s best kickers this season. He has made 18 of 19 (94.7%) field goals this season, good enough for the eight-best percentage in the league. Boswell is eight for nine from beyond 40 yards.
