Steelers LB Anthony Chickillo Arrested, Charged with Assault, Harassment

Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo has been arrested on charges of simple assault, criminal mischief and harassment.

Chickillo, 26, was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police offers in Wharton Township, Fayette County and arraigned on Sunday.

In that arraignment in front of magistrate Mike Defino, Jr., Chickillo was released on $10,000 unsecured bail and given a preliminary hearing date of Oct. 30.

Simple assault and criminal mischief are second-degree misdemeanors. Harassment is a summary offense.

Wharton Township is home to resort property Nemacolin Woodlands. The Steelers are on a bye this weekend and the players had an extended weekend off.

Chickillo is in his fifth season with the Steelers after being selected in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Miami. He’s played in just three games this season while dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. He has one tackle, one quarterback hit and one-half sack on the season.

The Steelers are expected to return to the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on the South Side on Monday in order to return to work in advance of their Week 8 game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday, Oct. 28.
