Steelers-Lions Preview: Can OL Provide Signs of Life Offensively?
The Pittsburgh Steelers head to Detroit to square off with the Lions in their preseason finale with one goal in mind: show signs of life offensively. After a pair of lifeless performances on that side of the ball, seeing Russell Wilson and/or Justin Fields command the offense to a couple scores early in this one would help calm Steelers nation’s nerves with the regular season opener in sight. Most of the roster spots are spoken for at this juncture but the bout also represents the final chance for dozens of players to make their lasting impression in hopes to make the 53-man roster.
SN analyst Derrick Bell breaks down the matchup including improvement points from the quarterback position, a decision looming on Broderick Jones and which players need splash performances to survive the wave of roster cuts. Given the amount of talent on the defensive side of the ball, combined with a solid preseason resume, there shouldn’t be many concerns surrounding that side of the ball. The other side is a completely different discussion, however.
