Steelers Met Formally with Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder at Combine

INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers have plenty of exposure to the quarterbacks from the Senior Bowl. However, while they had plenty of exposure to those guys down in Mobile, they get more access to them in an interview capacity in Indianapolis. With the quarterback need for the Steelers raging on, the Steelers are meeting with the Senior Bowl quarterbacks yet again, including a formal meeting with Cincinnati quarterback Desmond Ridder.

When speaking to the media on Wednesday, the former Bearcats signal-caller confirmed that he had met formally with 17 teams over his first day, including the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It should come as no surprise that Ridder would meet with the Steelers. His athletic ability and arm talent jump out on the film. He ran an advanced offense that requires him to think on his feet at a tougher level than most of the other prospects in the class at quarterback.

The label winner will come to Ridder naturally, as he has taken the Cincinnati program to new heights under his tutelage. For the quarterback who manned the first group of five teams into the college football playoffs, meeting with a historical franchise like the Steelers could be a match.

Ridder certainly checks many of the boxes of a mobile quarterback. However, his inconsistent mechanics and shoddy processing are going to be big issues for teams to overcome. The Steelers will be included in that, and they are going to have a tough time overlooking the accuracy portion of his game.
