INDIANAPOLIS — Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner met formally with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the 2022 NFL Combine

The Steelers are looking for the best player available for the future of their franchise at 20th overall. That could potentially be a quarterback or offensive lineman, but cornerback is certainly an area of need as well. With Joe Haden and Ahkello Witherspoon, both free agents the Steelers are left with only half of the cornerback room that was on the 53-man roster in the 2021 season.

As such, an interesting with a player in Gardner meeting with Pittsburgh makes sense. One of the best cornerbacks in football, Gardner never allowed a touchdown in his collegiate career. There are plenty of apprehensions still from some to crown him, but he is likely on his way to becoming a Top-15 pick.

Still, the Steelers are doing their diligence and clearly have an interest in Gardner. If he somehow falls down the board, the Steelers will be prepared to take a talented cornerback in Gardner.
