INDIANAPOLIS — The Steelers formally met at the 2022 NFL Combine with Florida cornerback Kaiir Elam, he said Saturday.

The Steelers are searching for a cornerback with Ahkello Witherspoon and Joe Haden on the free-agent market. While they may be able to pick one of them up, a sticky man coverage cornerback like Elam could do wonders for the team. Elam’s main calling card is his length and ability to disrupt top wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.

Whenever he is targeted an inordinate amount, Elam takes disrespect to it immediately. Not only do the Steelers lack depth and talent at the position, but they lack a certain fire as well. Elam can help bring that to the secondary.

“Whenever I see a team attack me more, I take it as disrespect,” Elam said. “They think they can throw on me. But they can not. I don’t let that happen.”

The Steelers will pick 20th overall, and with the absurd top of the cornerback class that there is, it is very possible that the Steelers could have Elam sitting there for them when they are on the clock.
