Steelers Nation Expected to Take Over Las Vegas
Steelers Nation is expected to invade Allegiant Stadium for Sunday’s Steelers-Raiders game, according to Vivid Seats, ticket marketplace. Vivid Seats’ Fan Forecast projects a whopping 56% of the crowd to be Steelers fans.
The matchup is the hottest NFL ticket of the weekend and second-most sought after NFL ticket of the season, with an average price of $602, and best deal of $293. Fans are traveling an average of 923 miles to watch the showdown in Las Vegas.
Steelers fans took over Las Vegas in last year’s Steelers-Raiders matchup, so another invasion is not surprising. The Steelers fan base is nationwide, and it’s especially strong on the West Coast.
The Raiders moved to Vegas in 2020 and have struggled to establish a robust fan base in the area. The Raiders were originally Oakland’s team and spent 14 seasons in Los Angeles (1982-1994). Building a connection to Vegas has been an uphill battle for the franchise.
With Las Vegas being a tourist attraction, it’s one of the main travel designations for NFL fan bases. Cleveland Browns fans had a strong presence in the Week 4 contest. That will be only increase with the Steelers coming to town on Sunday.
Pittsburgh fans made a noticeable impact in the Steelersโ Week 1 win over Atlanta. Steelers Nation was so loud that the Falcons had to go on a silent count at their home stadium.
โSteeler Nation is incredible, man,โ Watt said after the game. โIt is incredibly demoralizing for an offense to be on a silent count at their home field. Honestly, a lot of those plays go to them. The fumble I was able to land on because they had to be on a silent count at their place. Any time that happens when you have a lot of shifts and motions, snaps can go anywhere. The ball is on the ground I got to recover it.โ
Vivid Seatsโ Fan Forecast projected over 55 percent of the stadium to be Steelers fans against the Denver Broncos in Week 2 and 40 percent in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts. There were a lot of Steelers fans at the Broncos and Colts game, but it wasnโt a takeover like in Atlanta. The Falcons game was projected to be 53 percent Steelers fans, and it felt more like 70 percent. I’d expect the same to occur on Sunday in Las Vegas.
