Steelers, Nick Herbig Lead NFL in Preseason Sacks
Nick Herbig led the NFL with 3.5 sacks this preseason and the Pittsburgh Steelers led the league in sacks per game.
Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Nick Herbig tied for the NFL lead in sacks this preseason, recording 3.5 over three games for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He tied Daniel Hardy of the Chicago Bears, who also had 3.5 sacks, though Hardy played in four games because the Bears faced the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio to kick off the preseason.
Jose Ramirez of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,Jamie Sheriff of the Seattle Seahawks, Cameron Thomas of the Arizona Cardinals, Isaac Ukwu of the Detroit Lions and Steelers rookie Julius Welschof all finished with three sacks.
In addition to the sacks, Herbig finished with seven total tackles, three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits and a forced fumble.
The Steelers finished tied for first in the NFL with 3.67 sacks per game. They and the New England Patriots had 11 total sacks over three games. The Bears had 12 sacks over four games.
Herbig also had 3.5 sacks last preseason, finishing one-half of a sack behind last yearโs co-leaders Niko Lalos and Caleb Murphy. The second-year Wisconsin product went on to record three sacks over 17 games in his rookie year last regular season.
