Steelers’ Odds of Landing Shedeur Sanders Increase

The Pittsburgh Steelers (+230) are now ahead of the New Orleans Saints in odds to land Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, trailing only the Cleveland Browns (+200), according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
The Saints dropped to +425, while the New York Giants have the third-best odds at (+275).
NFL Network lead draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah thinks Sanders will only go to the Giants or the Steelers in the first round.
“I don’t see a Shedeur team in between those two spots,” Jeremiah said Monday on FS1’s The Herd. “And, maybe, you have somebody come back up for him.”
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated also reported that the Steelers brass has a growing acceptance that Sanders will be their pick.
“This is where a lot of folks think Sanders will land—and Mike Tomlin’s relationships could play into that,” Breer wrote. “I don’t think there’s an overwhelming consensus in the building to pick the Colorado star, but perhaps a growing acceptance of the idea. The Steelers have also done a lot of work on [Jaxson] Dart. Then, there’s the prospect of what drafting a quarterback at No. 21 could mean for their pursuit of Aaron Rodgers, which still seems to be in a bit of a fragile place.”
The Steelers were not expecting the possibility of Sanders being available to them when they started their preparation for the 2025 NFL Draft, but now that it seems possible that he could be on the board when Pittsburgh picks at No. 21 overall, the Steelers are keenly interested.
According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Steelers have begun to take the idea of drafting Sanders seriously later in the process, which explains them bringing him into Pittsburgh for an extensive pre-draft visit but not scheduling their own trip to Boulder for the Colorado pro day.
The Steelers original plan in the first round was to focus on defensive line, and Sanders could be a wild card. With the Steelers having just two quarterbacks under contract, and no second-round pick, it’ll be a long wait to add a signal caller if they pass on quarterback in the first round. Sanders is the top prize that’s even potentially available to the Steelers at No. 21.
According to Schefter, most teams see the floor for Sanders as the Steelers at pick No. 21, meaning if he’s there, the Steelers will likely take him.
