Steelers Open as 6-Point Underdogs at Bengals in Week 1

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened as six-point underdogs to the Cincinnati Bengals in their season-opening game at Paul Brown Stadium on Sept. 11, according to odds released Thursday by FanDuel Sportsbook.

The money line for the Steelers is +198, while the Bengals money line is -240. The over/under total for the game is 44.5

The Steelers were 8-10 against the spread in 2021. As an underdog, they were 6-5 against the spread and won five games outright. As a road underdog, they were 4-5 against the spread and won three gams outright

Ten of the Steelers’ games in 2021 went under the total, while seven went over and one pushed.

The Bengals were 14-7 against the spread in 2021. As a favorite, they were 5-4, losing three games outright. As a home favorite, they were 3-3 against the spread, losing two games outright.

Twelve of the Bengals’ games in 2021 went under the total, while eight went over and one pushed.

In Week 3 last season, the Steelers were 3.5-point favorites and lost to the Bengals, 24-10. In Cincinnati on Nov. 28, the Bengals were 3.5-point favorites and beat the Steelers, 41-10.

The season sweep of the rivalry series was the first for the Bengals since 2009. Before the Bengals salvaged a split in 2020, the Steelers had won 15 consecutive meetings between the teams, dating back to 2015, including a playoff win that season.

The Steelers have won 21 of the last 25 games between the Ohio River rivals. Pittsburgh leads the overall series, 67-38.
