Steelers Open as Touchdown Favorite Over Broncos

The Pittsburgh Steelers have opened as touchdown favorites for their Week 2 matchup with the Denver Broncos.

Pittsburgh is -6, with the over/under set at 43.

Both teams kicked off their seasons on Monday night as part of ESPN’s annual doubleheader.

The Steeler topped the New York Giants 26-16 in quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s return. The 17-year veteran went 21 of 32 for 229 yards and three touchdowns in his debut. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster caught two of those touchdowns, while the smothering Steelers defense allowed just six rushing yards to star running back Saquan Barkley and forced two interceptions.

Still, Monday night proved costly for the Steelers, as right tackle Zach Banner, guard Stefen Wisniewski and running back James Conner all suffered injuries.

Denver fell at home 16-14 to the Tennessee Titans in the nightcap. While second-year starter Drew Lock looked good with a touchdown and completions to ten different receivers, the Broncos failed to muster enough offense to overcome a resilient Titans team. Even with four misses by veteran kicker Stephen Gostkowski, Tennessee still managed to grind out the win at Mile High.

The Steelers and Broncos will kickoff at 1:00 PM from Heinz Field. The game will be broadcast locally on KDKA-TV.
