Want to watch the Steelers vs. Patriots game Sunday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. ET?

You’re in luck if you live pretty much anywhere in the United States and have access to CBS.

Locally, the Steelers vs. Patriots game will be shown on CBS Pittsburgh (KDKA-2).

The Steelers and Patriots have formed a solid rivalry over the past two decades, with each team representing the cream of the crop in the AFC.

Under head coach Bill Belichick (who took over in 2000) the Patriots won six Super Bowls, matching the Steelers’ NFL record. During this stretch, they lost three Super Bowls as well, marking a level of success unheard of in the National Football League.

The rivalry, however, runs a little deeper. It’s not just that the Patriots matched the Steelers’ six Lombardi trophies in short order.

During the run, the Patriots defeated the Steelers in the AFC Championship three times (2001, 2004, 2016) and went on to win the Super Bowl each time.

Ouch.

Most recently, the Patriots defeated the Steelers 33-3 in New England to open the 2019 season. And while the Steelers won the matchup before that at Heinz Field, 17-10, the recent history hasn’t been great for the black and gold squad.

The Steelers are 3-7 in the two teams’ last 10 regular season appearances.

Now, however, the Steelers carry the momentum of a Week 1 upset over the Cincinnati Bengals into this matchup with the Patriots. While that will undoubtedly give them a boost heading into the game, there’s more good news for the Steelers, too.

The Patriots lost their Week 1 showdown with the Dolphins, 20-7, and quarterback Mac Jones injured his back in the contest. His availability for Sunday remains to be seen.

Will this be the year the Steelers re-assert dominance over their rival Patriots?

Virtually the entire nation is about to find out Sunday on CBS.
