Steelers OLB T.J. Watt

The Steelers have placed star outside linebacker T.J. Watt on the COVID-19 Reserve List, the team announced Monday afternoon.

Watt becomes the fourth player in three weeks to land on the list along with Ben Roethlisberger, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Ray-Ray McCloud.

Watt’s 12.5 sacks are a blistering pace for someone who has played a mere nine games thus far on the season. However, should he miss Sunday’s contest against the Ravens, Watt will now have missed three games on the year. He previously missed games due to a groin injury and then a dual knee and hip injuries.

If Watt has been vaccinated, he will have to be asymptomatic for 48 hours and then have two negative tests before being allowed to return to action. That means Watt will not practice this entire week, and it makes it a very long stretch that he would be available for the Steelers’ divisional game against the Baltimore Ravens.
With Watt out, expect Taco Charlton to receive his second start in three weeks. Derrek Tuszka and Delontae Scott will also likely see increased action.
