PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers wrapped up their 2024 OTAs at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday with a surprisingly newsworthy final session.

Justin Fields took some turns working with the top groups of position players and offensive linemen, saying that the team has been working to make sure that both he and Russell Wilson have had ample opportunity to get to work with all of the available receivers.

While OTAs are not a time for competition, that familiarization sure seems to be setting the tone for a training camp battle between Fields and Wilson to be the team’s top quarterback.

Veteran running back Cordarrelle Patterson made his OTAs debut earlier this week and spoke to the media for the first time on Thursday. He said that he was not a full participant, but has been working hard in meetings to grasp not only the three positions he can play on offense, but his new responsibilities as a kickoff returner amid drastically different league rules.

Elsewhere, Jaylen Warren said that he’s not worried about his contract status heading into the final season of his rookie deal, the latest in a number of Steelers on expiring contracts that don’t seem likely to be extended any time soon.

Additionally, Nick and Alan talked to young defensive backs Nate Meadors and Thomas Graham, who have stood out this spring.

All that and more in today’s Pittsburgh Steelers Practice Report.
