UNITY TWP., Pa. — The Pittsburgh Steelers had their 14th training camp practice of 2024 on Thursday at St. Vincent College, and Alan Saunders of Steelers Now was there to break it all down.

The Steelers had what head coach Mike Tomlin called a bounce-back practice on Sunday after watching the film of their preseason-opening loss to the Houston Texans from Friday night. Tomlin said the team was keenly interested in improving areas of weakness from Friday.

To that end, rookie center Zach Frazier got some work with the first team, after Nate Herbig and Justin Fields botched two center/quarterback exchanges on Friday.

Elsewhere, wide receiver Quez Watkins had his biggest day of practice in training camp, catching a 50-yard bomb from Fields and making several other big players after muffing a punt on Friday.

Finally, kickoff returner and running back Cordarelle Patterson and defensive tackle Dean Lowry made their practice debuts, albeit in a limited role. The Steelers suffered two more injuries during practice, but got relatively good news about rookie tackle Troy Fautanu.
