Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and Pitt alum Kenny Pickett has the second-best odds to become the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, according to odds released on Monday by BetOnline.com.

Pickett, who the Steelers drafted with the No. 20 overall pick last Thursday, has 13/2 odds of winning the award, second to Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London, who has 11/2 odds.

Quarterbacks have dominated the award in recent years, with rookie passers winning it nine of the last 18 seasons. Ben Roethlisberger was the last Steelers player to win the award back in 2004. Since then, Vince Young, Matt Ryan, Sam Bradford, Cam Newton, Robert Griffin III, Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray and Justin Herbert have also won it as quarterbacks.

Six running backs and three wide receivers have won the award in that time frame, including 2021 winner, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.

This year, Mew York Jets running back Breece Hall and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks follow Pickett at 8/1, while Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is at 9/1. Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams and Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder round out the top 10. Of the other rookie quarterbacks, Malik Willis and Matt Corral have 16/1 odds, while Sam Howell is 33/1 and Carson Strong is 40/1.

Overall, the Steelers have won the award three times since its inception in 1967. Running back Franco Harris won in 1972 and wide receiver Louis Lipps won in 1984.

The Minnesota Vikings have had five winners, the most of any NFL team, with the Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions each having four.

Two players with local ties are among the betting favorites, with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (Shady Side Academy) at 16/1 and Penn State wide receiver Jahan Dotson at 18/1.

The Steelers’ second-round pick, wide receiver George Pickens, has 33/1 odds.
