Steelers QB Target Drafted Just after Their 3rd Round Pick

With the 92nd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks drafted a potential Pittsburgh Steelers target, Jalen Milroe.
The quarterback from Alabama was the fourth at his position to be taken so far, behind Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart Tyler Shough. Notably not among those names is Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, who continues the most famous draft weekend slide in recent memory.
Milroe commanded the Crimson Tide after backing up Bryce Young. He stunned SEC opposition with his blazing speed and remarkable athleticism but struggled to keep that same pace while throwing the ball. Milroe was benched early in his career with the Tide but rebounded to command the starting job to start 26 games over two seasons.

His unfinished skillset led him to be consider by many as a fixer-upper, rather than somebody who would start right away. That fits with Seattle’s makeup right now. The Seahawks signed Sam Darnold to a 3-year, $100.5 million contract this offseason, after allowing Geno Smith to follow old head coach Pete Carroll to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Last year, Milroe finished with a 64.3 completion percentage for 2,844 yards and 16 touchdowns. He ran 168 times for 728 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also threw 11 interceptions, and the Tide’s 9-4 record was their worst since 2007.
Two picks after Milroe, the Cleveland Browns drafted Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel, who will accompany Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco in one of the most interesting quarterbacks in the league.
By not taking quarterback with their last two opportunities, the Steelers remain with only Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson on the roster, with general manager Omar Khan promising that two more will be coming by August.
One of those could be Aaron Rodgers, as president Art Rooney II hinted once again on Friday. The other could be taken starting in the fourth round of the draft on Saturday.
