Stelers OLB Marcus Allen

The Steelers have re-signed linebacker Marcus Allen to a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday.

Allen, 24, had been an exclusive-rights free agent, meaning that he would not be free to negotiate with other teams.

The Steelers’ fifth-round pick out of Penn State in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen saw his most extensive playing time in 2020 after making the conversion from strong safety to inside linebacker.

Allen played 14 games and made two starts after having appeared in just three games over his first two seasons. He recorded 30 tackles, two tackles for a loss and two quarterback hits last season.

Financial terms of the contract were not released.

Allen is the second of the Steelers’ potential 2021 free agents to re-sign with the team, following center J.C. Hassenauer, who was officially signed on Monday.
