PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are releasing defensive back Joshuah Bledsoe, the team announced on Thursday. It is the corresponding transaction to yesterday’s signing of safety Quindell Johnson.

Bledsoe, 26, signed a reserve/future contract with the Steelers in January. He was a sixth-round selection by the Patriots in 2021 and played in four games, recording just one tackle during his three-year tenure in New England.

On Aug. 28, 2024, Bledsoe was waived by New England. Two months later, he signed with the San Antonio Brahmas of the United Football League (UFL).

Bledsoe played at Missouri from 2017-20. During his collegiate career, he had 130 tackles, one interception and one sack over 46 games.

In his last season at Missouri in 2020, Bledsoe recorded 41 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, six passes defended and one interception.

Bledsoe checked in at 5-foot-11 and 204 pounds at the 2021 NFL Scouting Combine and recorded an athleticism score of 71, which ranked 13th among all safeties in Indianapolis.

“Stocky safety/nickel hybrid with good strength and a compact frame,” NFL analyst Lance Zierlein wrote. “Bledsoe plays with strength from press and good awareness from short zone, which might be the best option for what he brings to the table. He plays with plenty of toughness and competitiveness.”
