While the NFL season has yet to kick off, the draft season has already kicked itself off for NFL staffs. Head coaches and position coaches will be focusing on their week one matchups, but scouts and in some cases, general managers, are already on the road.

For the Steelers, that very much is already true. The Steelers have a scout in attendance for Thursday night’s Ohio State and Minnesota matchup at Huntington Bank Stadium according to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.

While Hope notes that there are teams with multiple scouts in attendance, those scouts could be anyone from an area scout to a general manager. It is impossible to know exactly who it is for the Steelers in attendance, but it is clear the Steelers are at least sniffing around.

Ohio State is a place the Steelers almost always hit on the Pro Day trail, and 2022 looks to be no different with a number of talented prospects. The highlights for the Buckeyes are wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. They are both potential first-rounders. However, there are plenty of other talented players the Steelers could look at. That includes tight end Jeremy Ruckert, defensive lineman Haskell Garrett, edge rusher Zach Harrison, cornerback Sevyn Banks, safety Marcus Hooker, tackles Nicholas Petit-Freire, and Thayer Munford, linebacker Dallas Gant, and running back Master Teague III.

While there are fewer such prospects for Minnesota, there will still be talented players to watch. Yet another talented wide receiver in Chris Autman-Bell will try to make a bigger name for himself. For the Steelers, tackle Daniel Faalele will be a huge player to watch. He is somehow bigger than Zach Banner at 6-foot-9 and has a nasty mean streak. Outside of those two, running back Mohamed Ibrahim, edge rusher Boye Mafe, center Conner Olson, defensive tackles Nyles Pinckney and Jamaal Teague, cornerback Coney Durr, safety Jordan Howden, and quarterback Tanner Morgan.

The matchup is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. from Huntington Bank Stadium. It will air on Fox.
